Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) today announced the appointment of Dato’ Gumuri Hussain as the Executive Chairman of Audit Oversight Board (AOB), effective 18 November 2016.

Dato’ Gumuri brings along more than 30 years of extensive experience from the audit, accounting and corporate sectors. He was a Senior Partner and Deputy Chairman of Governance Board of PricewaterhouseCoopers Malaysia, Chairman of SME Bank, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Penerbangan Malaysia Bhd. He was also formerly a Board member of the SC.

Dato’ Gumuri is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

SC today also announced several internal promotions within the leadership team, including the appointment of Zainal Izlan Zainal Abidin as Managing Director of Development and Islamic Markets. Foo Lee Mei, General Counsel, is appointed as Chief Regulatory Officer. She will oversee General Counsel, Corporate Governance and Consumer & Investor Office.

Eugene Wong, will be Managing Director of Corporate Finance and Investment and also oversee accounting matters, while Kamarudin Hashim, will be Executive Director of Intermediary and Fund Supervision and will also oversee consolidated risk analysis.

In addition, the SC is also pleased to welcome the appointment of Sharifatul Hanizah Said Ali as the Chief Executive Officer of Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC), the training and development arm of the SC.
