CME Group, the world’s leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, today announced it reached an all-time open interest record of 129 million contracts on June 14, 2017, surpassing the previous open interest record of 125.7 million contracts reached on May 11, 2017. June 14 also represented the highest-volume trading day in 2017 to date at 29.8 million contracts.

CME Group’s FX futures and options products reached a record volume of 2.5 million contracts on June 14, 2017, surpassing the previous record, 2.3 million contracts set on March 10, 2016, by 3 percent. A record number, more than 1,100, Large Open Interest Holders traded FX futures. Of note, Canadian Dollar futures and options had a record day of nearly 257,000 contracts traded, surpassing the previous record of 251,000 set on September 13, 2012.

CME Group’s Interest Rate complex also experienced strong volumes on June 14, with Fed Fund futures reaching an all-time high of more than 907,000 contracts traded in a single day, surpassing the previous record of 714,000 on March 2, 2017. Wednesday Weekly Treasury options, launched less than two weeks ago on June 5, traded more than 42,000 contracts during the June 14 trading session.

Hard Winter Wheat futures traded nearly 115,000 contracts, surpassing the previous record of nearly 106,000, on May 1, 2017.
